Samuel and Ellen Hogg

Samuel Harper Hogg and future wife Eleanor Margaret Nicely.

Samuel Harper Hogg, son of Robert and Eliza Hogg, was born on July 14, 1872. Eleanor "Ellen" Margaret Nicely, daughter of Stephen and Eleanor Jennie (Kelly) Nicely, was born June 23, 1881, in New Castle, Pennsylvania.

Samuel, known as Harper, married Ellen on March 14, 1900, and they had 9 children:

Jennie Melvina Hogg Born in 1904.
Lena Imelda Hogg Born October 19, 1907.
Robert Nicely Hogg Born in 1910.
Bertha Twila Mae Hogg Born in 1914.
Stephen James Hogg Born in 1916.
Harper Chalmer Hogg Born in 1921.
Eleanor Viola HoggBorn in 1924. Eleanor married Frank Ward Swogger.

Harper was a farmer, and a coal miner. Later he worked in a limestone quarry. Eleanor died February 8, 1950, in Cabot, Pennsylvania. For many years before his death, Harper lived in a small house next to his eldest daughter, Alice Barron. Harper passed away at the age of 93 in the home of his daughter, Lena Schmitt, who had been caring for him. He died December 30, 1965, in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
