Maynard and Inez (Nutter) Reynolds

Much of the information on Maynard and Inez was extracted from Find A Grave, a website maintained by their grandson, Randall Reynolds, via their son Dick. Steve Baker also contributed information and pictures. Steve is also their grandson, via their daughter Janice and her husband Clyde Baker. Many thanks to both.

Maynard Everette Reynolds, son of Reverend Maynard and Flora (Bryant) Reynolds, was born in Illinois on March 21, 1895. His wife called him "Everette", to avoid confusion with his father, and he was "M. E." to his friends.

Inez Nutter (her birth name was Swedish- Ina Singna), daughter of John and Jenny (Reinholdson) Nutter, was born October 19, 1894. Everette and Inez married in 1914.

Both Everette and Inez taught school in S. Dakota, and later farmed a homestead in Zieback County, SD. Times were hard during the depression, and in 1942 Everette and his family moved to Corvallis, Oregon. In Corvallis Everette worked as a grocery wholesaler for Hudson-Duncan & Company, which in turn, led to his owning and operating his own grocery store (Reynolds Food Market). Later, he worked for the Henry Helser Company, and lastly, he managed the Surplus Food Program for Benton County.

Everette enjoyed his family, neighbors and friends, the outdoors, road trips, RVing and fishing on the Alsea with his wife Inez, cooking, gardening, making homemade soap, and reading his Bible every afternoon for an hour so. Inez loved cooking, and her baked goods won many prizes at the Benton County Fair. She was actively involved in their church and in various ladies groups, was an avid gardener, and much enjoyed their fishing trips.

Inez tragically died in a car accident in 1968. Maynard retired at the age of 75 and died at the age of 99 in 1994.

Maynard and Inez had three children
