Clyde Theodore Baker, son of Arthur Daniel and Minnie Lee (Richardson) Baker, was born November 27, 1912.

Clyde's and Janice's son Steve has been a major contributor to the Nutter line of this website. His brother Mark was in the Army and served as a combat infantryman in Vietnam. Steve ran across this picture of Marine's looking after a wounded brother Marine near Con Thien, Vietnam. The British photographer, Larry Burrows, was later killed in Laos. The Marine in the soft cap is Art Sayward, a coworker of Steve's. Steve commented on this Marine, "He helped my only brother, another Vietnam War combat veteran back in 2007 when he really needed it. I used to get him on my cellphone to talk with my brother at that time. His whole countenance would change, because one combat veteran was talking to another. I realized that combat veterans have special communication or understanding when speaking to each other. It was then that I finally understood just what they mean when they speak of the ‘brotherhood.’ "

Janice Rosalie Reynolds, daughter of Maynard and Inez (Nutter) Reynolds was born January 2, 1918, on the family homestead, near Red Elm, South Dakota. When Janice starting high school, she went to live with her grandmother, Jenny Nutter, who lived in Gibbon, Nebraska, at the edge of town. After high school, Janice attended Hastings College, in Hastings, Nebraska.

Clyde married Janice in 1938. Clyde Baker was in the Army Signal Corp stationed in Alaska, serving as a radio operator. Janice soon joined him about 1940. Their first child, Patricia, was born there. Subsequently, Clyde was stationed in Cordova, Seward, Yakutat, Adak, and Fairbanks, Alaska. They left Alaska, when Clyde was assigned to serve at Ft. Lewis, WA. They also lived in Ankara,Turkey, for a while, after which, they returned to the States, living at Holloman AFB, NM, and Sacramento, CA. At one point, they lived in a little house across the side street from Janice's parents in Corvallis, Oregon. Eventually they settled in El Paso, Texas, where they raised their family.

At about 27 years old, Janice, while still in Alaska, became ill with multiple sclerosis, and her body slowly was ravaged by this dreadful disease until she finally lost her battle in 1966. As stated in her eulogy, "Janice, known as "Sis", by her family, was a dear, loving, nurturing soul. She was a wonderful mother and wife, this in spite of her personal struggle with her health. Her death was a devastating blow for her family, parents, and siblings. Janice Rosalie is to be greatly commended for her courage and fortitude."

Janice was an excellent artist. These pictures are examples of her work.

Clyde died in 1985, and is buried in the Fort Bliss National Cemetary in El Paso, Texas.
