Hugh and Elizabeth Watt

Much of the information contained herein is extracted from the HOGG GENEALOGY written in the 1950's by Calvin Hogg, great grandson of Samuel, and others. It contains much more history and many more stories than I have used herein, and is well worth reading.

Hugh Watt, son of Hugh and Jane (unknown) Watt, was born in 1785. Hugh married Elizabeth White, daughter of Alexander and Rachel (Henderson) White. Alexander White fought in the Revolutionary War. Though not ordained he was a part-time circuit preacher.

Hugh and Elizabeth had the one child:

Alex Watt Born about 1815/1816. Alex married Mary Atwell and they had several children, among whom were John Alexander (killed by a train at Browntown), James Ebenezer, (married a McFate), and George (died as a child about 1855). Alex was a stonemason.

Hannah Watt Hannah married Ebenezer "Big Naze" Brown (son of Ebenezer J. and Jane Jenny (Porter) Brown) and they had 2 children, James R. & Edward Brown. After Jane died, Ebenezer remarried to Susan Love and they had 5 children: Joshua, David Heron, Hannah Miranda, Emma Jane, and Henderson Scott Brown. Jane died in 1869 at the age of 56.

Jane Rankin Watt Born in 1813 in Pennsylvania. Married Ebenezer "Little Naze" Brown (son of Ebenezer and Elsie/Elcy/Alice/Alys (Porter) Brown) and they had two daughters: Hannah & Margaret. (Some family trees show 3 more daughters: Mary, Susan, and Martha). Jane died in 1869 at the age of 56.

Margaret Watt Margaret married George Dillinger and they had a son, Hugh Dillinger.

Elizabeth Watt Born around 1820. James and Elizabeth had 3 children: Calvin, James Harvey, and John Alexander.

Martha S. Watt Born December 27, 1816. Martha married Robert "Bob" H. Weakly and they had 10 children, but only three survived past their teens. These were: Hugh Alexander "Alex" (the eldest), John, and Martha (these two were the youngest). The others were Sarah, Hannah, Samuel, Margaret, Ann, Maria, and Mary.
