John Nutter, son of William and Dinah (Ingham) Nutter, was born in Gloucester City, New Jersey, on March 6, 1856.
Anna Carlson, daughter of Carl and Marta (Nilsdotter) Carlson, was born in Johannesborg, Mörlunda Parish, Kalmar Län, Småland, Sweden, on August 5, 1862.
John and Anna were married May 2, 1881. They lived on a farm between Gibbon and Shelton, Nebraska, where their four eldest children were born. In addition to farming, from 1892 to 1896 John served as sheriff of Buffalo County.
Anna died young of an abdominal infection on March 22, 1893 at age 30, and was buried in Riverside Cemetary, in Gibbon.
In December of that year, John remarried, to Jennie Reinholdson. John and Jennie had six children.
John died of a stroke on December 10, 1935 at age 79, and was also buried in the Riverside Cemetary
